Tara Barani Hassanlangi studies the master programme in Political Science.

What are you studying?

I am studying the master programme in Political Science. I have also chosen to do the so-called double degree programme, which means that I will be studying one year at Stockholm University and one year at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Germany. I will therefore get a double degree. One Master of Arts (M.A.) Politikwissenschaft from LMU and one Master of Science (M.Sc.) Political Science from Stockholm University.

Why Political Science?

I am very interested in international relations. I am also interested in analysing why decision-makers act the way they do. Political Science teaches me how to analyse this scientifically.

Why I chose to study abroad one year was to get experience from another country and learn how Political Science is studied in different countries.

What is the best with you education?

It is a large variation of courses. You have the opportunity to learn more about for example feminist studies, environmental studies or international relations. That makes it easy to choose courses you find interesting.

What is your plan for the future when you finished your studies?

I would like to become a researcher or work in the political sphere. Because I am interested in international relations, it would also be exciting to work with diplomacy.

Do you have any advice for new students?

Take the opportunity to study abroad! It might feel abit frightening in the beginning but it is really worth it. It is a lot of fun and you learn a lot as well. When it comes to your studies, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Both to your teachers but also to you fellow students. Remember to always have a common thread when writing your home assignments, and do not forget to use sources.
