The research at the Department embraces a wide range of different areas: democracy and citizenship, political theory, environmental politics, political institutions, European politics, minority rights, global development, women in politics, and many others. Several of the areas have been selected as leading research areas at Stockholm University.

Leading research areas at the Department of Political Science

The Faculty of Social Sciences Board has appointed leading research areas at the faculty. Four of these are found at the Department of Political Science, Global and regional governance, InRights - Challenges to democratic rights and inclusion, Feminist and Critical Studies in Politics and Environmental Politics, Policy and Learning.
