Kåre Vernby, Ph.D., Uppsala University, 2006, is Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University and the Department of Government, Uppsala University, where he teaches courses in comparative politics and methods.  His research interests are in political economy and political behavior. His current research projects include studying the policy consequences of enfranchising previously excluded groups; discrimination; the political representation of immigrants; and the historical origins of the radical right. His papers have been published or are forthcoming in academic journals such as American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Electoral Studies, European Union Politics and Politics & Society as well as several edited volumes. He is a former recipient of the Postdoctoral Scholarship from the Wallander-Hedelius Foundation for Research in the Economic Sciences and has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University (2007-2008) and a visiting graduate student at University of Rochester (2003).


Research Projects and Collaborations

Vernby is principal researcher on the project “Are Noncitizens Discriminated Against in the Hiring Process?”, funded by IFAU, and part of the project “Global Economic Crisis, Institutional Change and Inequality in a Comparative Perspective: Changed Welfare States and Labour Markets in the Western World since the Global Economic Crisis 2008”, funded by Vetenskapsrådet. He is also an affiliate of the Immigration and Integration Policy Lab at Stanford University.
