I am Postdoc fellow at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University, doing a research project on Environmental Justice and Climate Refugees.

The main goal of the project is to overcome legal obstacles for recognizing Environmentally Displaced Peoples (EDPs) as climate refugees and for providing horizontal legal instruments such as collective rights to most vulnerable groups affected by climate change-induced displacement.

As for the methodology, I combine the analysis of legal sources, research publications, research projects, official reports and hearings of special parliamentary commissions, and partly newspapers, documents, and flyers produced by grassroots movements.

This project is a great opportunity to further develop my main research interests, such as Climate Change, Environmental Justice, Collective Capabilities, and push factors of migrations.

I obtained a PhD in Public Law, Comparative and International at the Department of Political Science at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2016. My doctoral dissertation "A Theory of Justice for Environmental Justice. A Comparative Analysis between Italy and Germany" was written in English after almost two years of research activities at the Environmental Policy Research Centre (FFU) at the Freie Universität Berlin (2014-2016).
I studied abroad in Denmark (Aarhus University) and Germany (Freie Universität Berlin).
During my studies abroad, I focused on the following topics: Climate Change Law, International Law, International Jurisprudence (Theories of Justice and Global Justice), Comparative Law, Waste legislation (in Italy, Germany, and EU), and Environmental Justice.

In 2014 I worked for one of the most widespread environmental NGOs in Italy (Legambiente) doing a project for promoting stakeholders' engagement in waste management in Rome. From October 2016 to June 2017 I worked for Fondazione Ecosistemi as an environmental consultant for the development of the European project on waste prevention Urban_Wins (Horizon 2020), the Erasmus + project “Education on Climate Change”, and a further project for writing the “Sustainability Report” for Ecodom (the largest Italian Household Appliance Recovery and Recycling Consortium). The report is produced every year in order to detail the results of operations in terms of environmental, economic and social performance by using GRI Standards.

Currently, I am working for publishing a book on Environmental Inequalities in order to introduce the topic and to move forward the debate on Environmental Justice in Italy. From 6-9th June 2019, I will present the paper “Justice in an environmental nutshell: A theory of justice or justice as a roadmap” with my colleague Götz Kaufmann (director of the Environmental Justice Institute) at the International workshop on "Narratives and practices of environmental justice" based at Kiel University.
