Decentralization, community and development; religion and politics in Africa; civil society and democratization in Africa.
In my dissertation project I am writing on religious and ethnic conflicts in Nigeria, with special reference to the sharia issue in Kaduna State. I am a member of the Politics of Development Group (PODSU) in the department, which has a well established relation to the Centre for Research and Documentation (CRD) in Kano, which I am affiliated to in Nigeria.

I am the course coordinator of State and Democratization in the Third World (Political Science II), and of Human Rights (Social Studies).
