Seminars

The department offers a general graduate seminar, as well as various special seminars. The first year the student is expected to participate in an introductory seminar. The seminar provides information about the doctoral program, research funding, forms of publication and scientific production, etc. In the seminar the Ph.D. students’ emerging research designs are regularly discussed.

In the general graduate seminar, scholars from other political science departments, other academic disciplines, as well as foreign guests and Swedish policymakers are invited to give lectures. In this seminar 'lic.'-theses (for an Advanced M.A. degree), final drafts of dissertations and dissertation proposals are also presented and discussed.

The special seminars are oriented towards particular fields of research. They are intended to function as a forum in which participants discuss their own dissertation work. The most important activity in this seminar is the discussion of drafts for sections of the doctoral dissertation, essays and book chapters. Relevant outside researchers may be invited to these seminars as well.
